So I have a question for you O’Wise One…I was in Costco yesterday trying to find organic fruit and all I could find was apples. My baby girl is dying for strawberries but they didn’t have any organic. Because of my current situation (son in wheelchair) I didn’t want to go to any more stores so I bought the strawberries. Can you recommend a good wash solution to wash non organic frutis/veggies to make them not so bad? Am I making any sense? Also, I noticed that the English cucumbers I bought said “guaranteed pesticide free” but they did not say “organic”..I may sound stupid but what is the difference?
One last thing..you told me to eat fruits/veggies that are in season. Well again don’t laugh but I have no idea what season breeds what crops…therefor do you have a seasonal list on here? Sorry to be a pain but why “Bing” these questions when I can go straight to the professional!!! Ü
Thanks for your help!!!!

So the Seasonal Veggie guide is in my Blogroll under, well…Seasonal Fruit/Veggies http://www.worldcommunitycookbook.org/season/guide/general.html
Strawberries still have a few months to go for us, and I do believe when they were in the heart of being in season Costco had organic, though it was a short run.
You have the veggie wash now- but I use the Whole Foods one, or the Trader Joe’s one, though I am not sure they help all that much when it comes to pesticides and such, but great for washing dirt and possible feces off of melons or things where the knife cutting through can contaminate the fruit(ewwwww)! But they must wash off some of the residue, and it makes me feel better!
Costco is getting better with Organics, but pickings can be slim. Right now I buy their frozen organic blueberries, organic apples, oranges, grapefruits, avocados, kiwis, bananas, pineapples, mangos, squash (none of which need to be organic), organic milk, organic peanut butter, organic kirkland strawberry jam (nothing but strawberries) and now they FINALLY have free range/hormone free/antibiotic free chicken breasts (yeah)!
I also buy those English cucumbers because they say pesticide free. I believe some companies are just trying to bypass the cost of getting a certified “Organic” label, though they are producing products that qualify….but you are far from stupid, it can be confusing….and by the way, organic does not always mean pesticide free…go figure!
