My daily guidelines

I shoot for a 90/10 philosophy for eating.  90% of the time, when I am in-charge of my life and what I am cooking, eating and doing, I follow the guidelines below (to the best of my ability):

  • Try to eat whole, real foods.  Veggies, fruits, nuts.

  • Avoid dairy

  • Avoid meat (I eat very little, but I still cook it for my family)

  • Avoid processed foods

  • Drink 64 ounces of water

  • Get NO LESS than 30 grams of FIBER but shoot for more

  • Walk wherever I can.  Park in the back of the lot!  Take the stairs!  MOVE!

  • Aim for no more than 2000 Calories

Now that said sometimes life is not in your hands.  10% of the time I roll with the flow.  If I am at a friend’s house for dinner and she has cooked meat, or made an appetizer with cheese or dairy, I will eat it.  I have always been bothered by people who make blanket statements of “I don’t”…..and the last thing I ever want to be is one of those people that no one thinks is any fun!  Or a guest that someone worries about having to cook for.  There is not much I will not eat….there are just a lot of things I CHOOSE not to eat on a regular basis.  Thus the 90/10 rule.

So for my 90% I shoot for the above!

How about pastured meats? Rabbit, duck, goose and chicken raised on pasture are very healthy!

      Brad,
Exactly! When we eat meat this is exactly the type of meat we eat! I tend to purchase meat at the PCC or Whole Foods…or the Wed Farmers Market in Kirkland! Where can we get yours? Tell me more!
